Digipak Font Research

All these fonts were created using a website called da font. This allowed us to created a range of different fonts. It allows us to see each others opinions and ideas towards the digipak. Each font has something about it we like about it, so we are thinking about asking a range of people for their opinions so we can decide which font would be best. To ask people we would need to make sure they understood exactly what the digipak would contain.
This font is called XXI Ultimate Black Metal . It fits the theme of the horror side of the video, however it is quite hard to read so wouldn't stand out on a magazine advert.

This font is called Face Your Fears. Although
it's a very simple text it is easy readable. It also has
the feeling it has been hand written so to fit with the video,
we could create the text red to look like blood.

This is font is called Cold Night For Alligators. It is a good font to use for maybe a title, but however for the whole digipak, it would be too much for all the font.

This font is called October Crow. I like this font, it's easy to read and has a sense of horror about it. It would stand out on an advert which is a key factor to think about.

This font is called Underwood 1913. It is a very
simplistic font however I don't think it really
fits the genre of the digipak we are creating. It doesn't have that something special which is easily relatable to horror.
This font is called DK Samhaim. It is another simple
font which could easily be seen and read. However it is
very similar to Face Your Fears so would be very hard
to distinguish between the two fonts.

This font is called CF One Two Trees. I really like this font. It fits really well with the song and the digipak. It's simple which means it is easy readable. Also it's orginal and you don't see
fonts which are similar to this either.

This font is called Lolita Scorned. It is different to
the other fonts as this font is very girly compared
to all the other ones. It is simple text however it is quite
busy with all the patterns and drips. I like this font and
think it would work with the video and digipak.

Magazine

We decided to use Q magazine to post our advert. Q is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. Q was first published by the EMAP media group in October 1986, setting itself apart from much of the other music press with monthly production and higher standards of photography and printing. In the early years, the magazine was sub-titled "The modern guide to music and more".The magazine has an extensive review section, featuring: new releases (music), reissues (music), music compilations, film and live concert reviews, as well as radio and television reviews. It uses a star-rating system from one to five stars; indeed, the rating an album receives in Q is often added to print and television advertising for the album in the UK and Ireland. It also compiles a list of approximately eight albums, which it classes as the best new releases of the last three months. The magazine has an extensive review section, featuring: new releases (music), reissues (music), music compilations, film and live concert reviews, as well as radio and television reviews. The audience are Open minded experience seekers, the Q audience don’t define themselves by the music they listen to. Music is an important passion, but their love of music will never be to the detriment of their other passions, such as film, sport and comedy.

Lighting Research

We researched different lighting effects to use in our video. We decided we needed low key lighting to fit in with the intertextuality we have choosen. Here are the results in our research:

Music Video Conventions

Student Feedback

Using this This is the feedback which we gained our giving our treatment to our class. feedback allows us to improve our video by making changes using the ideas of the class. This allows us to write about changes throughout the process. In total we had fifteen students fill out the questionnaire. Here are the results;

1. How old are you?

 Ages ranged from 17 - 18.

 2. Gender?

6 were female, 2 did not specify, and 7 were male.

 3. Have you seen the Blair Witch project?

Out of the fifteen students, thirteen people said they hadn’t actually heard of the Blair Witch Project. This could cause a problem as we intended to use this as part of our intertextuality when filming the atmospheric shots in the forest. To improve this intertextuality we could try and find a more recent film which uses the same ideas as Blair witch project so more people would understand the reference.
